Olcott Beach is a great destination for families looking to take their kids to the Carousel Park, couples wanting to enjoy a romantic dinner on the deck at Mariner’s Landing, wine enthusiasts finding their perfect bottle of vino along the Niagara Wine Trail, and anyone just looking for a scenic, lake-side town to visit. However, there is one activity that seems to trump all other reasons to visit the quaint hamlet of Olcott Beach: fishing.
The town’s position on the shores of Lake Ontario and at the mouth of 18 Mile Creek make it a geographical shoe-in for a bustling fishing town. Olcott Beach was even voted America’s Ultimate Fishing Town in 2012 by World Fishing Network.
Our family is fortunate enough to be able to enjoy the town of Olcott and its spectacular fishing opportunities every summer. The Town of Newfane Marina is our home base from May through September, they not only offer seasonal dock slips, but have a boat launch that sees a LOT of traffic in the summer months. One could pass an entire afternoon on a summertime Saturday afternoon watching boats leave and return, hopefully with a heavy fish cooler!
Spring this year has been HOT as far as fishing goes, I will let The Boat Doctor’s fishing report take care of the details! Bryan and I were able to take the kids out the other weekend for some family angling, and the fish did not disappoint!
Keep scrolling for some photos of our trolling trials from the other weekend!
Wishing you tight lines and a long, successful season!
